My September Favourites | 2018

9/25/2018

September was a crazy month! For starters I worked at my faculty because of the new students that were enrolling in their first-year of BA or MA. It was also my birthday month and other peculiar things got to happen. Nonetheless, there I am to share my beauty favourites of the month.

The current Autumn loves and picks

10/25/2014

I'll skip the part where I excuse myself for not posting more because of school. Let's say that I'll probably post something Once a week and that's it? Until my Christmas Break and it's what I can do. I love blogging but school comes first.
So, you guys know that I love to do posts about what I choose for this time of the year. I don't know, Autumn brings good memories and feelings. I like the cold weather, but I hate when it's super freezing so, Autumn is perfect.
And it's interesting because a week after taking these photos - because I had the time and light for that - we got this super strange and hot week which I hated. Mostly because I couldn't sleep properly.

So now, here are some of my choices. I tried to choose both high end and drugstore items...with the exception of eyeshadows. But you guys forgive me that, don't you?

I know, mentioned these two last year. Anyway, the Urban Deacay Theodora palette is something that I tend to pick up during Autumn. I know that some of you might get bothered because this was a limited edition and you can't get it but... I believe that some of these shades were released into their singular shadow collection and I really want to use what I have, no matter if it's a limited edition or not. Also, these have the best UD formula in my opinion!
Next, MAC Cranberry usually get a bit more usage during the time as well. I've been thinking about getting more singular shadows from other brands like etude house or innisfree - some of their mineral shadows look really good - and depot everything into my Wild Peach cosmetics palette that Shayne gave me (thank you!). I love to either do a smokey eye with cranberry allover the eyelid and Bewitch & West around my crease and lower lash-line. On a simple day, there's nothing like Broken all over my eyelid and Beware on my crease to define it.

I came to realize that I have more Autumn/winter shades than Spring/Summer shades.
Anyway, from Drugstore I couldn't resist to mention sleek. Their trio in sugar has the perfect shades - 2 matte and 1 shimmery - for any Autumn look of your choice, with gorgeous pigmentation. Alongside with that, the all time famous Face Form had to be mentioned as well - the blush can easily be worn at any occasion, the bronzer makes me look defined without being too orange or muddy and the highlighter is super pretty and isn't too shimmery.
From the High End department, my choice went for these 3 gorgeous products from NARS. Seduction is a quite intimidation shade, but believe me, it looks really nice for this time of the year and it can be blended. Laguna and Orgasm don't really need too much introduction : laguna is an amazing bronzer just like sleek's and Orgasm goes with any look or season.

(from left to right : MAC viva glam Rihanna; Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Pencil in Theodora ; NARS Matte Velvet Lip Pencil in Never say Never )

Yes, I master the art of not doing my swatches like I should. Shame on me I guess.
Anyway, here are the lipies that make me look super classic and polished during autumn. The MAC viva glam Rihanna is perfect for when I want something red but "not that red". When I got it during my SWAP with Shayne I knew it would be perfect for this time. The same applies to Theodora, which can be a little intimidating but can be worn without problems - it lasts a lot on my lips too. The only problem is to sharpen it...apparently I'll have to get a compatible sharpener for him and the NARS matte velvet lip pencil - which is the most comfortable matte lip pencil/lipstick I ever found. Doesn't dry my lips and stays for a while in my lips without problems and it's really easy to reapply.

(from left to right : Kate by Rimmel London in 05; Rimmel London 038 in Vogue; Rimmel London Amethyst Shimmer ; Rimmel London 166 Temptation; Kiko Makeup 87 ; Essence 03 Dare to Wear )
To compensate the fact that I only have high end palettes, here's a huge selection of drugstore lispticks. Starting with one of my all time favourites - Kate by Rimmel London in 05 , although I love to wear it during the Spring and Summer, I think he goes better with the cold season. In Vogue and Amethyst are really pretty shades that I'll be working with during this season as well - they look intimidating at first, but look seriously gorgeous. Temptation is the probably the hardest colour to wear (mainly because I need a lip pencil...) but has everything to shine during the cold.
87 from Kiko looks more reddish on the bullet than what it is - in a season were people are loving purples and burgundy shades, this one is a budget friendly choice. And the Dare to Wear from Essence is also a friendly red guy that it's easy to find, although a bit dry for my taste (nothing that a good lip balm won't help)

Here are my choices! I promise I'll try to post actual looks with them soon on my blog later during November.
What will you rock during Autumn?

Take care everyone! Have a nice day!

With Love,
Diana.

The Drugstore Holly Grails

8/12/2014

(Let's all ignore my really strange expression. Seriously, I suck at selfies, I guess I'll have to employ someone to take me photos. Or maybe I can try a bit more...at least I'm trying!)
I know that I tend to talk more about high end products than drusgstore ones. I used to buy a lot of cheap items - specially essence. But then, most of the products weren't what I expected and ended up giving a bunch to my cousin so I decided to go with less but better. Oh and take advantage of Sephora deals and sales - which is probably the most intelligent thing I can do. But, there are still really amazing affordable products that deserve to shine and get attention. Specially when they perform like high-end products or even better. So, inspired by Vanessa's post about her Drusgstore Gems ( please check it out here ) I decided to make a post about my favourite products from the Drugstore / high street/ affordable companies / whatever you want to call it. (okay, easy Diana, easy...)
So, Starting with the eyeshadow palette, I went for Storm from Sleek. I have a love-hate relationship with their palettes mostly because of their matte shadows - too chalky and powdery for my taste and most of the times lacking in pigmentation. But this one is just good. Now only for the quality but also for the shadow selection. You can do so many types of looks with this palette - neutral ones, colourful ones, smokey ones...the possibilities are endless. So, if you are starting in the Makeup thing, I would totally recommend this one. Also, the packaging is really sturdy and...sleek. Perfect for travelling (Which I'll be doing quite a lot during the next week).
Keeping with the sleek theme, the Face Form in Light had to be mentioned as well. I know that I haven't been using a lot during this year - mostly because I'm been using my bronzer from Too Faced - but this really deserves to be mentioned. Again, amazing for travelling and the pigmentation is insane, specially on that blush. Light hand is a must with him. And yes, I'll be sure to do a comparative post between this and the Nars Orgasm + Laguna duo in the future (specially because I think that they aren't that similar...more in the future I guess).

Oh yes, no drugstore post could be done without mentioning this powder - The Catrice Mattifying Powder Waterproof. I almost got a backup of this yesterday but, I think I'll end up doing it anyway. It's the best powder I ever used - really fine, gives my skin a velvet and pretty look and keep the shine away. It's compact and has a good mirror. It doesn't have any brushes or sponges but, I personally don't care for that.
In therms of drusgstore lispticks I have to admit that I never went into experimenting too much. If I find something nice, I stick with it. That what happen with the Kate by Rimmel London lipsticks. The present here is the 05 but I also own 03 and I'm thinking about getting a few more. They are easy to apply, aren't too moisturising but aren't drying which is good. They just look nice and I can't complain too much...after all this costs around 7 euros.
Also from Rimmel London, their newest cream blushes - Stay Blushed in 001 a Pop of Pink-  are also a really nice treat. I wasn't expecting something this nice - easy too blend and build up and hold pretty nicely on my face. The colour I own is perfect for everyday and I'm thinking about searching for more. But won't be soon I guess.
Lastly but not least, the Catrice Waterproof Eye liner pencil in 100 Pearly Bird is my waterline choice. I got it because the one I wanted - matte and with a salmon hint - was (and still is...) out of stock. I'm really glad that I got this because it give a more shine and light to my eyes.

So, here are my dugstore choices, what are yours?
I'll be doing a similar post for high end and...it will be bigger than this. So get ready!

Take care everyone, have a nice day!

With Love,
Diana.

July Beauty Products '14

8/06/2014

July was a interesting month. My computer was off during one or two weeks and I couldn't edit pictures - yes, most of the posts were already made before but it was hard to get new ones. Also, most of my time was was spent trying to do looks for upcoming posts and I'll be working on more during August. I've also using and rediscovering products in my collection- which is why I only have a few favourites.
Also, the month was spent watching Sailor Moon Crystal - AWESOME! with the exception of the last episode were some perspectives were really strange - and Orphan Black - amazing! Seriously brilliant! If you are looking for a nice  mystery & sci-fi series watch this one! They have 20 episodes, 10 for each season.
And now, into the Beauty favourites...

Sleek Storm Palette
I tend to forget about this palette. But I really shouldn't. From the three that I have this is the best in terms of shade selection and texture. I've been working on a Drugstore Holy Grail kinda post so, you'll be seeing me mention this palette again. I'll try to not forget about her so soon.

Sleek Face Form in light
Another product that I tend to forget but I shouldn't. The quality of sleek of blushes is amazing - they may not stay in my face as much as NARS blushes, but they are really pigmented. A easy hand is a requirement for these and also, they last a lot! There was a time were the only bronzer I had was the one from this kit and I haven't hit pan on it - you can see the hole, but there're still a long way to the pan.

Bourjois CC Cream in 31 Ivory
Although I haven't been near any beach, I got little more tanned - like a shade or so. I'm still pale, don't get my wrong, but I can't wear the Big Easy from Benefit now because of that. But, now the Bourjois CC cream is a perfect match - weird right?
The only down side is the fact that I need to powder because the shine will come at full power in my T-Zone. Still, it's a monthly Favourite.

VMV Hypoallergenics Ooh-la-lash Mascara
The best mascara I ever tried. There I said it. There's nothing I can do to thank Shayne for this. I'm very picky with mascaras because I have straight lashes and I hate really liquid formulas that take too much time to dry, smudge and are heavy on my lashes. This Mascara is perfect - doesn't take too much to dry, isn't heavy at all and doesn't smudge or makes me look like a panda. Oh yeah, I love this! I guess Benefit has competition now.

And this is it. I'll try to work on more posts during this week, specially on a Back to School series. Anyone interested in particular posts? Maybe makeup for school? Essential things that should be in you beauty bag? I would to know your ideas.

Take care, have a nice day!
With Love,
Diana.

Maybe not that Special

Sleek Oh So Special Palette

I mention this palette during my "Shadows for Spring" post but I tought that I should do a review on it.
I have a huge Love-Hate relationship with this palette. There are colours that are gorgeous to work with, but others not? Not that much.
Yes you guessed it - the matte shadows are also a huge problem here. It bugs me a bit...Yes, there is only one shadow with pigmentation (actually, doesn't have pigmentation at all) but the crumbling of the others is insane.
What this palette has, is a nice selection of colours. We have the neutrals, the colourful pinks and the darker shades for smokey eyes - blue, purple and black.

On the first row he have (from left to right) Bow , Organza, Ribbon, Gift Basket, Glitz and Celebrate. Are you wondering where Bow is in the Swatch picture? Remember the Eyeshadow that didn't have pigmentation? Here it is. It's even worse than the Matte shades from Au Naturel. I  can't work with this shade...What can I highlight with this? Nothing. I seriously think that it's a waste of space. It was better not having it, than having it like this. Ribbon was a disappointment as well. The pigmentation isn't bad, but crumbles like there is no tomorrow. Again, what saves this palette ware the Shimmery shades. My favourite is Gift Basket - amazing to swipe across the lead and blend with a matte shade (one with pigmentation you know).
On the Second row we have (from left to right) Pamper, Gateau, The Mail, Boxed, Wrapped Up and Noir
Besides Noir's usual problem (Sleek, you could have changed the formula you know?) I'm really sad with The Mail. It had everything to be my favourite shade along side with Gift Basket but it's so dry and chunky...and not pigmented. Boxed and Wrapped Up aren't the best but they aren't that bad either, specially if only used as transitional shades. Pamper has the same problem that Ribbon has and Organza (along side with other Shimmery shades) has a small problem with sparkle fallout.

It's not a bad palette, but doesn't like for the name. Like I said on my previous post, I'll keep buying their palettes, but only after swatching everything and doing a big research on their shadows.

Take Care, have a nice day!*

With Love,
Diana.

A Sadly Natural Disapointment

Sleek au Naturel Palette

I have a confession to make - this is the first palette I bought when I decided to be interested in make up. It was like..3 years ago? I just had started to read blogs and at the time, Sleek was entering in the Portuguese market. I saw a review on this palette - how amazing and affordable it was. I was a really young girl at the time and decided to jump and buy this palette. By the tittle, you can see that this didn't live for my high expectations.
Ok to be fair, many of these shades are gorgeous and amazing, the problem is that pretty much half of the shadows have high pigmentation and crumbling problems. I know that I can't complain too much for a 10 euro palette, but I can't stop feeling bad about this.

Before I start to talk about the shades, I want to credit Sleep&Water because I got inspired by her review on the Lorac Pro  swatches. I hope that she doesn't get mad but I really like her system. Please don't get mad! Also, I'm sorry for the "out of focus" thing, I'll be working on fixing it I promisse!

On the first row (from left to right) we have Nougar, Nubuck, Cappuccino, Honeycomb, Toast and Taupe
The first row is a mess. The only shade with good pigmentation is Taupe - a gorgeous golden shade . Nougar, Nubuck and Cappuccino have really poor pigmentation. But I'll be fair, Bow from the Oh So Special Palette has bigger problems compared to these shadows. I mean, you can say " oh they are nice as transition colours" but really, 5 transition colours? Often people complain how the Naked Palette's don't have enough matte's but really...I rather have 2 or 3 nice mattes than have 5 or 6 that aren't nice. (But that's just me)
On the second (from left to right) we have Conker, Moss, Bark, Mineral Earth, Regal and Noir.
The second row is a nice one. The only "trouble" shade in therms of pigmentation is Noir. Bark and Regal are matte and yet, they are beautiful to work. Conker, Moss and Mineral Earth are buttery and gorgeous shadows, although, watch out for a particular and annoying fallout.

Overall, I'll keep using this palette but I'll always feel sad about the fact that half of the shadows have problems. Will I keep buying sleek palettes? Probably yes, but only after swatching every single eyeshadow from the palette. I can't do the same mistake trice..

Also, this is my person opinion. You may or not agree with me...
Take care everyone, have a nice day!

With Love,
Diana.

Blush for Spring | 2014

3/23/2014

This year I decided to upgrade the game and recommend a few blushes for Spring as well. I have option for both high-end and drugstore. They aren't that many, but I think that they are all nice options.

Benefit Sugarbomb BoxPowder Blush
Mine is from their Sugarlicious kit but as you all know, it's also available in a full-size version. I really like this blush. It's a really pretty light peach tone that brightens but my face.I used to be afraid of him but today, it's actually one of my favourites.

Nars Seduction Blush
Ok, the colour looks really scary but this was released last year as part of their Spring collection. Yes you read it right, Spring collection. I think that it's a really nice blush for when we have really light make up on our eyes but have a nice bold lip. Personally for me it's a  blush that you use at any season, but since I'm making this post I had to talk about him.

Nars Outlaw Blush
A more pinkish and with a few shimmer (it's not much really!). This one can be used with different looks, compared to Seduction since it's a bit more...live? I don't know. It just a pretty colour that speaks Spring to me.

Bourjois Cream Blush in Rose Tender
I'm starting to hit pan on this one. It's a cream blush with a "cream-to-powder" finish. Looks lovely with any look and doesn't melt with the sun and high temperature. A Repurchase will be made once this one is out.

MeMeMe Blush me! in Pink
Part of a The Secret Bag special edition, this precious just really screams Spring to me. It's pink, easy to wear and carry on your make up bag and affordable. And the Fluffy blush is always a nice plus.

Sleek Blush-by-3 in Sugar
What can I say about this? First, Demerara is a perfect dupe for Seduction. You can use it in the same exact way, paying only a fraction of the price. Muscovado isn't exclaty the best Spring colour I know, but Turbinado is a really interesting pick if you want to get a more toasted peach look.

Would you like to see a lipstick post? I hope that you guys liked this. I'm really sorry for the quality but, Spring decided to take a small vacation when I took this photos and the light was really bad. (She took the vacation, but my allergies didn't...)

Take care, have a nice day!
With Love,
Diana.

Sleek Blush by 3 in Sugar | Review

1/31/2014

If there is a High Street/Drugstore brand that I really love is Sleek. Although I have a Love-Hate with their eyeshadows, I love their blushes (I'm planning on getting their new releases...specially the one with the cream blushes). I previously made a review on their Face Form and I'm thinking if I should or not talk about my other two eyeshadow palettes - mainly because mine are from a bad shipment and apparently the new one don't have the problems that mine have.
Anyway, this blush palette was a tricky one. When it was launch I was super afraid of this colours. Like...really afraid. But after getting Outlaw and Seduction from Nars, I saw how nice this palete was and I finally decided to get it. Best decision ever.

Starting with Demerara, this is a really nice dupe for Seduction from Nars (actually, many Sleek blushes are nice dupes for the Nars blushes! So don't get kinky replicas and counterfeited make up, get a dupe like this instead!). It's matte (which means that we can play a lot with highlighter afterwards) and looks really pretty on the cheeks. In my personal opinion, this is a all-year blush. Depending on you eyeshadow and lipstick colour, this will always look good.

Muscovado (which reminds me for a type of brown sugar called mascavado in Portuguese) is a golden shimmer version of Demerara. The base tone is the same, but this one contains gold reflects. I need to be really careful with this one since it super, super pigmented. Don't get too crazy with this one...unless you want to look like a golden berry clown.
Personally, this is more of a Fall/Winter blush. You can totally wear it during the Spring and Summer, but I think that it looks better during the cold time.

Lastly, but not least - Turbinado is my choice for the Summer. It's a Tangerine/Apricot colour. Really pretty but I need to be careful with this one - or I'll be looking like an orange Humpa-Lumpa!
This screams Summer to me. For the day time, I like to year this alone, but during the night time - I LOVE to year a bit of highlighter on top.

Overall, I really happy with the 3 blushes and I really want to get more of this palettes (specially the new ones!). You can find this at some Sephoras, Boots, Superdrug and of course - Sleek's official website .
I hope you enjoyed this review!
Take care, have a nice day.
With Love,
Diana.

Sleek Face Form | Review

12/13/2013

Long time no see. I'm so sorry for taking so much time to write a new post but, there have been a few family problems and school work to do. Now everything is put together, so I can, finally, post something.
Today's post is about Sleek's Face Form. This is a very friendly and affordable product.
It contains a bronzer, a highlighter and a blush. They are very pigmented, specially the blush - which I always need to be careful, other wise I'll look like a shimmery and golden clown.  The bronzer is good for my completion, although I also try to not overuse it. Being a muddy lumpa-lumpa isn't my cup of tea. The highlighter isn't too shimmery. It leaves a very healthy and pretty glow.

Mine is the light version. There is also a Medium-Dark version, which contains a more darker bronzer, highlighter and a brownish blush. I think that you can also check the palette ingredients if you want as well.
I've talked already about the swatches but, I wanted to mention that I've hear/read some people saying that this blush is a nice dupe for the NARS Orgasm. I can't prove if it is or not because I don't own Orgasm (yet at least), but I would say that it's a nice alternative.
Overall, I think that it's a product worth to check. Depending on where you live you might be able to get this from a Sleek counter at Boots, Superdrug, Sephora (I got mine there) and of course, at Sleek's official website. I recommend this for sure.
I hope that you guys enjoyed this review. Not my best, but I promise that my next post will be better.
Take care everyone, have a nice day!*

With Love,
Diana.
