Innisfree Apple Juicy Cleansin Oil | Review

6/27/2015

The tittle for this post could also be " The best cleansing oil I've tried so far" but, it was way to big.
I've been doing what I said I would and I've been preparing posts...and watching way to many shows. Before I start talking about this cleansing oil please allow me to recommend you Sense8 ( it's a Netflix show). If you like series with good character development, fight scenes and touch of philosophical bit here and there it's the show you need to watch. A friend recommended it to me and I couldn't stop watching it.

Now, back to cleansing oil world. Everyone knows how much I love cleansing oils to remove my makeup and cleanse my face. It's no secret that I said no-no to foam cleansers. But finding a good cleansing oil isn't as easy as it seams. Most cleansing oils either have things like Mineral oil ( which can be for me as bad as SLS) or more active oils that can cause breakouts or inflammations on more sensitive skins. The previous cleansing oil I was using had Lavender oil and somehow my skin wasn't really happy about it.  Also, I tend to like cleansing oils that are a bit more rich, since them seem to cleanse my skin more easily and I tend to not need to use as much product.
So, I ended up finding myself needing a new cleansing oil and having the hard task of finding something good that wouldn't break me out. Western oils were a no at the time because the ones we usually find at the Korean market are cheaper and better. It turns out that it's kinda the same...until I found this bad boy. I ran every name of cleansing oils at cosdna.com in order to check their ingredient list and if they had bad ingredients.
It turns out that the Innisfree Apple Juicy Cleansing Oil is by far the safest cleansing oil I could ever get, since the only bad ingredient is fragrance.

So, what does this cleansing oil has it that others don't?
First, the packaging is quite efficient because I can pour oil onto my hand without having it flying around the bathroom. I can't possible explain how mad I get whenever I get my mirror stained with oil because of bad packaging. I usually keep the seal because I do have my cat playing around my room sometimes and I don't want it to ruin and break my bottles.
Another personal perk of this cleansing oil it's amazing smell of green apple. I stated before that fragrance can be bummer to some people but personally, I didn't had any reaction with the fragrance existing in this cleanser. The smell is really fresh and makes me want to massage this on face, like if I was at a spa.
It has a richer texture, not too thick but not light either. It's perfect to massage and break all the makeup, specially eye makeup. This takes care of waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner without any problem.
As you can see here the ingredients aren't anything complicated or that could make you break out ( unless you are allergic to apples or to fragrance). Overall, I do believe this is by far one of safest cleansing oils I even had the change to try out.  I do want to try the Unna Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C cleansing oil and the DHC cleansin oil everyone loves ( the last one is quite expensive so I probably won't try it in a near future) but I'll for sure repurchase this cleansing oil.  So far I'm quite impressed.

I got this cleansing oil at Jolse .
Which kinda reminds me that for the first time in my life I got a package stopped for customs. I'm not sure how much I'll pay but...I really hope it's not that much. I really shouldn't have ordered again so soon...But I needed a backup of my daily moisturiser... I'll be sure to share that tale whenever that packaging finally arrives.
Thank you all for reading. Take care and have a nice day!

With Love,
Diana

The Current Night time routine | Skin Care

10/11/2014

Let's highlight the current here. Next month I'll probably have another one because of some thing I'll be testing. Plus there's also other things I want to get so and add into my routine - like the new La Roche-Posay toner that hasn't been released here yet. I've been scouting almost every single pharmacy and drug store to see if it's here already and nothing. Still, I want to use the minutes I could spare right now to post this. I'll try to get some new photos and post ideas for next week posts this Sunday. And I'm only waiting for the last package to arrive from Korea and I'll post my haul! (like...finally!)

Anyway, here we go!

So, cleansing is something really important for me. It's pretty much essential.
When I arrive at home I tend to do a pre-cleanse with my Garnier Micelar water and the Garnier Eye Makeup Remover because I always feel that it's too much. Specially when I all I want is to put my comfortable clothes and do my assignments.
But this doesn't mean that I won't do proper cleanse later. I'll always use my The Body Shop Cleansing oil...actually, some times I go straight to this instead of using the other two. Because it removes everything from skin, without being over striping.

Twice a week I like to exfoliate my skin with my Avène Cleanance Mask, which contains both BHA and AHA in it. It removes the dead skin without being too harsh.
But everyday I use toner. Specially my The Body Shop Aloe Toner which doesn't have any trace of alcohol. It's really gentle and prepares my skin to the next step.
Which is serum/special care. It's when I use my La Roche-Posay Effaclar duo+ so that my acne marks and scars can go away. I can't wait to get the Mizon serum to add it to my routine as well.
And lastly, I need to moisturise both my face and eye area. For the eye area I go for a good amount of my Bioderma Sensibio Eye Gel and leave it like a mask and let it soak. For my face, I like my La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche, which is thicker but not oily. I always wake up with a super plump and healthy skin after this.

So here you have it. My night time skin care routine.
I know, it could be better...I promsse it will be better next time.

Take care everyone! Have a nice day!
With Love,
Diana.

The Oil Cleansing Method

3/08/2014

Yes, I've been a bit off from the blog. School was making me crazy with many weekly projects and characters to learn and along with that, I caught a really bad flu. So I apologize for the lack of posts, I'll try to be more consistent again next week.
Because of what I said on my previous post about the foaming cleansers and how I started a new cleansing regime, I though that I should do a post talking a bit about it. I want to mention that I'm not a dermatologist or anything like that, but I've done a lot of research. If you want to know more in deep things, please visit Caroline Hirons Blog , she is a expert in Beauty Industry.

(this is a pure illustrative photo, taken from my instagram. Just because I like to have at least one picture with every post)

A brief background

Many of you know that I recently gave on the so called and popular “Foaming cleansers”. I had a terrible allergy and reaction to a cleanser from Avène. My face would be either super dry or super oily, my usual “hormonal breakouts” (from that time of the month) were super inflamed and would get worse every time I use that thing.  Because I have the policy of just buying a new cleanser or backups whenever the current is ending, I had to work something else. I remembered what Caroline Hirons had said about foaming cleansers.  A click was made.
I decided to work a bit more with my The Body Shop cleansing butter (because it was what I had at home). At first, it was strange. But know? I'm glad I did it.  My skin is better than ever, the breakout started to fade away as soon as I started this regime. The texture is better, pores are getting clean. I decided to bane foaming cleansers and sulphates from my face.

Sulphates - laureth sulfate sodium or Sodium lauryl ether sulfate – is a chemical component used is many cleansing products. From dish washers and clothing washers to face cleansing. The problem is, our plates and clothes aren't like out face, at all. Among the fact that sulphates remover every single natural oil that our face produces – both bad and good – it also create a nice playground to bacteria’s. Not good at all right?

Not everything is perfect

Yes, not all oils are good. Mineral oils aren't really that good. Although here  they say that it’s okay, some people might have problems with him. It’s a originality from petroleum so, people with sensitive might not like him…

Quoting from Wikipedia :

“The name mineral oil by itself is imprecise, having been used to label many specific oils over the past few centuries. Other names, similarly imprecise, include white oil, liquid paraffin, pariffinum liquidum, and liquid petroleum. Baby oil refers to a perfumed mineral oil.”

Liquid paraffin can also be found in some moisturisers. Bad moisturisers I have to say. I had a few moisturisers and lip balms with this ingredient and they weren't good (remember the moisturiser I hated from Nivea? It had this…)
Another oil to avoid is coconut oil because it can clog your pores like there’s no tomorrow. It’s nice for your body, but not for your skin.

Another thing is, don’t wet your face before applying the balm or oil. Apparently alkaline's our skin and messes up with our pH level. Oh, and be sure to change your cloth every day to prevent bacteria contamination – it’s the same philosophy that we have with bushes, is it nice to spread foundation with a very gross and dirty brush? No. The same is applied to face cloths. I personally bough a set of 10 from IKEA. 7 for the weak days and 3 spares.

So yes. I gave on Foaming Cleansers. Next Step will be Foaming Shampoo and foaming body wash.
In terms of recommendations I can for sure recommend the The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter since it’s the one I'm currently using. Una Brennan’s cleansing oil is also good for a pre-cleanse (like removing your make up before the actual cleansing).
For sure, the mostly hyped Emma Hardie’s Moringa Cleansing Balm (the only thing that it’s between me and that cleansing balm is the price) and I'm curious about the Take the Day Off cleansing balm from Clinique (a bit expensive, but nothing that a Sephora coupon can’t help). Shue Uemura's and Shiseido's cleansing oils are also quite used and hyped (although I recommend to check the labels..) and I've heard good things about Holika Holika's Soda Pore Cleansing oil.

More information can be found at acne.org and again, at Caroline Hirons 's Blog (no she didn't paid me to advertise her, although I wouldn't mind get a free Emma Hardie cleansing Balm! Ahaha, I'm kidding okay?) and also at Balance me Beauty  ( they have a really excellent guide on the cleansing oil method and different types of oils!)
So, that’s it. Next I’ll be contemplating the chemical exfolianting toner, which is something that I'm yet to try out (which means, I won’t be talking about it for the next 2 or 3 months). It’s a bit more complicated so, I’ll probably have to ask help to a friend or another.

If there’s anything you want to add or ask, feel free.
Take care everyone, have a nice day!*
