My five Hair and Body picks for the Autumn/Fall

10/06/2018

Autumn is slowly peaking through, after a really hot day in the beginning of October. Nonetheless, I have been already preparing my hair and body for the change of season, picking up products that will help me once the cold arrives so that I don't find myself in the middle of as unpleasant surprise.

COLAB Dry Shampoo | Review

7/16/2016

As someone with oily and really fine hair, dry shampoo is something I like to have with me. A small can can always be found on my bad and during my travelling.
I remember the huge rave that stroke YouTube and Blogs in the UK when this collection was released. Everyone said this was the best dry shampoo - it would give volume, work and was invisible. I have brown hair so I used to struggle with the white cast that would sit on my roots when I used my old dry shampoo...this seemed to be a miracle. Because I was curious and I didn't wanted to settle for something in particular, I decided to get the Travel set from Feelunique - when they weren't shipping from the UK mainland and my package got this huge tax issue ( which is why I probably won't be ordering from them...I'de rather order from LookFantastic, HQhair or BeautyBay since they all ship from the UK and I don't have issues...at least until the UK leaves the EU - which is something I shouldn't talk about here...but to be honest I don't know how that is going to end).
Anyway, they had this really nice travel sized pack with 5 different dry shampoos ( and a bag, which is lost in the Island of travel Bags that I have). They pretty much do the same thing - give volume, they don't give a white cast, they are really refreshing to my scalp and they smell nice. Some better than others - My favourites are Paris, Rio and New York. London and Tokyo aren't bad, but they aren't my thing to be honest.
They pretty much have all the same effect on me. For starters they all leave this really wonderful fresh feel to my scalp, which is something really nice. They don't leave that horrible white cast filter on my roots like some dry shampoos do and they give a really nice boost of volume. But don't get to excited to the "boost of volume" - it isn't that much and it will fade  out during the day.
To be honest, I don't see my self repurchasing these any time soon. Not only because they don't hold de volume/fresh look to it, but because I actually tried out something else that it is cheaper and that I can get easily without any extra tax or customs issues. But if you don't have a really, really oily hair and a more thicker hair than mine, this will probably work out better for you. Specially because they still have the winning point of being invisible and with a nice smell.

Have you tried any other dry shampoo ? I'm always open to recommendations. I had an issue with one from Bumble&Bumble because it didn't do a thing and with another one from Syoss that would leave this horrible white cast on my roots. So far I am thinking about getting Batiste - specially because they now also sell at primark, which makes my life a lot easier. I'm also curious about one from Tigi,
I hope you enjoyed this post! I'm trying ( in the middle of a heat wave) to work around more posts and content to the blog, since now I finally have more free time to do it properly. Take care, have a nice day!

A Small Disapointment

6/25/2015

Guess who is officially free from the faculty and can finally enjoy the summer time?  I can finally work on the blog just Like I wanted to. I'll be preparing posts but I'll be sincere, don't expect too many posts since I actually want to do other things during summer - like sleep, hanging out with friends and being able to finally read the books I want because I want to - but I'll try to post at least twice a week because I really like to provide content to this happy corner.

Today I'll talk about something that is often neglected here. I tend to focus myself too much around skin care and makeup and I usually neglect something important as haircare - which I really shouldn't since I've been working on fixing my hair since a disastrous choice of shampoo and conditioner almost wrecked my hair beyond repair. I had to purchase a rather expensive mask and quit using those products to finally have my hair smooth and healthy again.

But something I usually struggle is greasy hair. Pretty much like my face, my hair had the tendency of being quite greasy - particularly around the roots of my hair. I wash my hair every two days and I've quit SLS shampoo's but there are days where there is no time to wash it in the morning and I need something to help me survive the day.
For that, I like Dry shampoo's. They are usually easy to wear and nice to these situations but not all dry shampoo's are nice. I used one from Syoss which was a huge miss - although cheap.

I later decided that maybe I should try one of the cult products everyone and their mother loves. I mean, I saw tones of people raving about it, even on MakeupAlley but I have to say, so far I'm not that impressed. Bumble&Bumble Prêt-à-Powder is by far the most expensive dry shampoo I ever considered getting. I liked the idea that it wasn't a hair-can system and that it would be more environmental friendly.

Bumble&Bumble claims this has equal parts of Volume extender and dry shampoo...personally I don't find this making that major difference. I've tried to use this in different ways - more concentrated in the middle root, around all top roots  and still...I don't find this doing that much except having my roots looking more white than what it should. It also gives a weird texture to my hair. I always end up making a pony tail or a braid...
The product packaging isn't friendly either. I mean...you either don't take at all or you need to force the hole and end up taking way to much. There's nothing in between.
Overall, the only really good thing this has is it's smell but...it smells like baby-powder which I can get at any supermarket from 10% of what I paid for this bottle.  Also, Dry Shampoos are meant to leave a fresh feel on the hair and this does not do that by any means.
I don't know...maybe I'm not using it properly? I just can't like it like other people do. I just can't. I'll try to keep using it, specially because there's still tone of it left but so far I've already ordered a set of the cool-aid dry shampoos ( which are way more cheaper than this one).

If I eventually find a way of loving this I'll be sure to do an update but so far, I don't really recommend this. For it's price ( around 30€ at sephora here) it's just a waste.
Have you tried this particular dry shampoo? Any Recommendations?

Thank you all for reading! Have a nice day and take care!

With Love,
Diana.

The first round of "What I got this Christmas"

1/02/2015

Fist  : Happy New Year guys! May 2015 be whatever you want it to be!
Now, yes you read it right. This is only the first round. Mostly because I'll still order things and I'm still waiting for other things to be sent out - like my mom's present, which sadly she couldn't sent before Christmas. And after all this madness of spending, I'll probably be on SpendingBan during the rest of 2015 - with the exception of repurchases and the new Semi-Sweet from Too Faced.

Starting off with the most expensive item so far, my Ray Ban Clubmaster Optics Acetate glasses (I think that's the actual official name of this particular design...I didn't pay too much attention when I choose them at the time). I needed a new pair of lenses and my old glasses were...old. So yeah, I really had to get them and although I'm still getting used to them, I really enjoy the design. If you are curious of how they actually look on me, you can check this particular Instagram photo which was taken when I got them. Oh yes, You'll see me with them around the blog for sure.

Next, we had the hair and body madness. I've been neglecting my hair for quite some time and...I can't keep doing it. My hair deserver love and attention. Usually I just wash it, dry it and that's it. But I want to change that for good. There's nothing like a good and healthy hair.

So, firstly I decided to get the The Body Shop Rainforest Balance Shampoo which I have to say...isn't the best. it kinda dries my hair too much. It doesn't have any SLS and doesn't foam at all but...it seems too harsh. I'll use it once a week as my clarifying shampoo but...I don't know. I'll used it up for sure but I probably won't repurchase it.

The Bumble&bumble Hair Dresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo was...a quite impulsive purchase. But a reall good purchase. My hair feels so soft after using it. It doesn't contains SLS but it has DSL -
Disodium laureth sulfosuccinate - which according to this website isn't as bad as SLS. I haven't reached my pharmacy friend and ask her about this but no worries! I'll do it before writing my review on this one but something I can tell you - my hair likes this stuff. I might be crazy and try more products from the brand and from this line.
The Body Shop's Raspberry Line was on Sale...And since it was something that I really wanted to try when it came out I though "oh well, it's now or never". Thank god I thought like that. The smell is just...gorgeous. And as another confection, I have to admit that I never really went into the game of body scrubs and body butters...after this I might stock them up (specially because everything is 50% off!!! Crazy I know!!). The Body Butter is just lovely. Hydrates my skin without looking greasy or taking too much time to sink in - I have friend who'll probably say "I TOLD YOU SOOO",since she's been telling me this for quite some time - and the Scrub? Pure genius. It does it's job without being too harsh or damaging my skin. The shower gel works like other shower gels...with the benefit that smells way better than the regular ones. I might get the Blue Berries line and the Pink Grape Fruit lines soon as stocking.

Oh yes, makeup. And yes, there's more to come in this department. Shame on me I know. But, I've been a good girl during 2014 and I've been clearing out my collection - I'm actually going to do another one soon (and just out of curiosity, everything is given to my aunt and cousin. Unless it's something out of date or like a mascara or something).

Because I really needed an actual foundation I decided to finally try the Clinique Even Better...I've used this and I think it's nice. It looks natural and seriously...that's what I'm going for. I don't like really heavy foundations - never did. I rad concealer a bit more than have a really heavy base. I'll be reviewing this one more in depth around February and March because I want to test it while I'm in school.

The will be applied to the Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray - which I got in a very impulsive purchase. I mean...my current setting spray is dyeing and the bloody-thing has a air-cane system which is horrible for my lungs. I just hate that hing. And I know most people don't like this one too...but I tend to use this first after applying my primer and before applying my foundation and later after applying the foundation and concealer. This has helped me to keep everything in place. But again, I'll only have more clear thoughts around February and March.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in My Two Cents wasn't a planed purchase too but it's okay. I love this formula and this shade is just perfect for everyday wear. Oh yes, I need to get more shades from this particular line. This one in particular is just a no fuzz, no mess shadow. I can apply it, add mascara and leave the house and look amazing, natural and polished. All hail a good cream shadow.

Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation was actually a planed thing. I heard that it's a really good powder foundation and since I'm a total newbie to powder foundations I decided to get it and try it. So far I have to say that I love the Cocoa scent - it's the same from my Chocolate Bronzer - and I really like it. I mean, it's just nice for college or even as a powder that adds coverage. I'll probably pair this one a lot with my Benefit Big Easy and with a future BB cream that I'll get. (I promise that I'll stop getting foundations and bases...at least until I finish Big Easy, after that I'll probably get something else),

Lastly but not least, I finally got my "college style" bag from Accessorize. I've been wanting to get this baby for quite some time. It's big enough and yet isn't too big as well. Looks fine weather I'm more into classy or into casual. Perfection, that's the best way to describe this lovely bag.
And for now, that's it. I don't know when I'll post again since I'm now doing big renovations round my room and although I don't have classes I'll still have exams and other things to deal at the University.
Anyway, I hope everything is fine with you guys.
Take care, have a nice day!
With Love,
Diana.

L'Oréal Ever Sleek Sulphate Free Shampoo

5/14/2014

L'Oréal Ever Sleek Sulphate Free Shampoo
With giving up on Foaming cleansers, it was only matter of time until I would also gave up on Foaming Shampoos as well. I always struggled with super oily ruts and itchy + flaky scalp and there wasn't anything that would help me. I used to say "oh my hair and my scalp get used to shampoo too quickly..." after all I was being too harsh and over striping my hair!
After realising that removing sulphates from my skin care products changed every thing to better, I thought about doing the same to my hair products. The problem? 98% of the shampoo brands at the drustore use sulphates and foaming agents. But than...this line from L'Oreál got launch.
I had heard wonders about it from Essie Button a while back but I thought that it wouldn't be released here...but when I finally found it I though "well...why not?"
The texture is very creamy and nice to work, it's doesn't lather too much - which is normal since there isn't any SLS but...it does a few so I'm not sure if it is 100% sulphate free as they claim. But still, it isn't too harsh to my scalp, I don't get flakes like I used to and my hair doesn't get super oily as he used to!
Sometimes I don't even need to use conditioner or mask to de-tangle my ends.
Overall, although I want to try other shampoos - like The Body shop's - I'll probably keep buying this as my "drugstore shampoo". It's affordable and easy to get.

Do you guys have any recommendations on sulphate-free shampoos?
Take care, have a nice day!

With Love,
Diana
