Copping with Blog Blocking

7/28/2018

You are probably trying to grasp what is exactly "Blog Blocking". After suffering from something like this quite some time - either due to much work or just not knowing what to do, I decided to finally explore the topic here.
There are times when I really want to write a post, but as soon as I open the blogger tab in order to write it...it slips away from my hands.I just don't know what to write or how to write it. It doesn't matter if I have the best photos or not...I just don't feel like writing it.
Other times, I want to write but I don't know what exactly. Ideas would run away from my head and no topic would please me. Over the time, I eventually created a few copping mechanisms to deal with the situation, specially because I realised a common demeanour in every situation: my mind would be clouded to exhaustion.

A Few Recommendations:

  • If you aren't feeling it, don't force it. Seriously, go out and breath fresh air. Do something else that pleases you like reading a book or watching a TV Show. Forcing yourself to write is probably the worse thing you can do.
  • Read some of your old post. Sometimes when I feel lost in content, I reach out to old one. Usually it helps me realising that there is another angle that I can explore or maybe do an updated version of something I did 2 or 3 years ago.
  • Find and create a good creative environment. This one might seem odd, but sometimes what surrounds us can create a major influence into how we perform (and this does not apply just to blogging). I like to light a candle and listen to soothing music (Ori and the Blind Forest OST is a favourite of mine) because it helps to concentrate and clean my head.
  • It is okay to not post for a while. I nowadays try to have posts prepared if something like this happens, but over the time I learned that it's okay to just let go of blogging for a while. Blogging is meant (at least for me) to be enjoyed and fun. If I am not able to write and feel okay about it, I might as well stop for a while and get back as soon as I feel like it.
And you? How do you cope with Blog Blocking?
