Why am I updating some old blog posts ?

8/21/2018

I guess today's post will be a bit different from the usual. I am no "blog expert" (as I am not popular enough to claim what it is best or not to get engagement). But I've read many thoughtful posts about the topic and today I want to discuss my take on one of them: Updating old blog posts.

The first posts I updated from top to bottom were my reviews on Zoeva's Cocoa Blend Palette and Rose Golden palette. They were really old posts that had good views but that I felt a bit of discomfort over the time. You see, my blogging style changed a lot over the time and I couldn't handle having those posts looking like that. I also read multiple posts about how it is always a good idea to update old posts from time to time -  specially because perspectives and facts change. For example I first wrote these two reviews, Maquillalia used to carry Zoeva on their shop. Recently they stopped doing so because the brand started to be sold at Sephora online (including in my country! And funny enough it does not have the same status as other exclusive brands like Huda Beauty or Nars) But most importantly, I had to update the swatches!

This is something I did to other recent posts of mine. Initially I had not included swatches because I felt there was no need for it. But as time went by I did not felt the same and since I was updating older posts, I decided to take swatches for another 3 older posts and update them. Today I can say that I feel happy about that decision because no matter what, how I feel about my work is the most important.

This also taught me how it is important to put your best output into something the very first time. Because when things look like you want them first, you don't have to do them a second time. (although I have to admit that one of the things I love the most is taking photos and edit them) If something does not look just like what I want, I'll go again and do things properly. This happened recently with two upcoming posts. One I was able to turn around the situation and have what I wanted. But another I had to pause on it and re-do the photos in order for them to look like I want them to be.

Nonetheless, I did these updated because this blog is a place I love. It is a small corner around the wide web, but it is mine and I like to keep it in place just like I want him to be. Next month I'm preparing myself to share some blogging mistakes I've done and what I learned from them.

What do you think about updating old posts?

    1. Sim!

Beijinho!

  4. I definitely think this is worth doing because sometimes I'm looking for a review on a particular product and I just randomly come across blog posts from months and years ago so this way you're still trying to make sure your content is the best possible! xx
