My heatproof makeup base

Because no one wants to be melting

The Summer time usually means sunny days, the seaside and holidays. But it also means that the weather is super hot and not really friendly of make up. Usually I avoid completely wearing it, but there are always special events and days were I still want to look nice. Today I'll be sharing the products I use to create my heatproof makeup base.

Make Up For Ever Mist&Fix O2

I got this little guy during Christmas when my old Skin Food Orange Blood Fixing Spray finished and I wasn't sure about what to get next. This was eventually a very good surprise. This tiny bottle has been lasting ever since and I contemplating getting another one in September around my birthday. This mist is super thin and applies beautifully without any weird splatters or spots. I have continuously noticed how using this as soon as I finish my base has helped making it last. It's my go-to product for those moments when we want to look spotless perfect.

Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation

I remember getting this powder foundation one day at sephora without much realisation of what I was getting. At the time, powder foundations were to me a synonym of a very powdery and uneven look. Today is the synonym of a natural and yet polished look that works for everyday looks and that is perfect for when is too hot outside and I know for a fact that any cream foundation will likely melt. I own the shade Fair and I'll for sure repurchase this little guy once it hits pan.

Soap & Glory Once Heck of a Blot Primer

I have talked about this primer before, and it is still a favourite of mine. I specifically asked my mum to get it for me from the UK (since the brand isn't available in Portugal) and I'll be asking for a backup soon. This primer is like a dupe to Benefit's porefessional, but instead of giving me a very "silicone" effect on my face, it blends into the skin. Also it contains hyaluronic acid, which helps a lot when the goal is to maintain the face shine-free. Also a little goes along the way.

Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer

One of my newest acquisitions but that has a place in my routine already. I got this concealer after watching and reading tones of reviews from people comparing it to the ultra famous Tarte Shape Tape concealer. The applicator is indeed quite different to what I am used to, but what really makes me love this concealer is the formula. This concealer stays intact without budging for hours and contrary to other hyped concealers - looking at you Nars Creamy Concealer - it does not dry out on my under eye. I'll be getting more shades of this beloved concealer (and perhaps his cousin from Nabla?)

One Heck of a Blot Setting Powder

I believe I have mentioned this powder more than one already. It is a cult favourite among the British Beauty Community - I remember Fleur deForce raving about it - and I can totally understand why. This is a super thin powder that sets the make up in place and keeps the shine away. I'll be sure to get a backup of this product as well.
More tips for heatproof make up base:
  • Be sure to have your face properly prepped. You must have you skin properly moisturised and toned before wanting to apply any make up product. If your skin isn't properly prepared, no make up product - no matter how good - will look nice and survive the hot weather.
  • Do not forget to wear SPF. As someone who lives in a very hot and sunny country, I find that a lot of people (specially tourists) don't know how to behave under the sun.  be sure to always apply sunscreen and don't be out in the sun during the worse hours of exposure.
  • It is always a good idea to have with you  thermal water when it's super hot outside. It won't mess your make up (probably it will actually help it)  and will help you deal with the heat and feel more comfortable. No one wants to be melting outside, right?

And you, what is your heatproof make up base?

Powder foundation is the only thing I know for sure it won't melt off from my face...
